We Started With a Question Nobody Wanted to Answer
Back in 2019, three people sat in a cramped Sydney office arguing about why startup funding education felt so disconnected from reality. Most courses taught textbook theory while founders were bleeding cash figuring out basics. We thought someone should bridge that gap. Turns out, that someone had to be us.
Built From Experience, Not Assumptions
Our founders came from different worlds. One had bootstrapped two failed ventures before a modest exit. Another spent years at a Melbourne accelerator watching promising startups collapse over preventable financial mistakes. The third worked in corporate finance and saw how big companies structured deals while small ones guessed.
What connected them was frustration. Every startup finance resource either oversimplified to uselessness or drowned readers in jargon. Nothing addressed the real questions: How do I actually read a cap table? When should I talk to investors versus bootstrap longer? What does sustainable growth look like when you're three people in a garage?
crenithova emerged from those conversations. Not as another online course factory, but as a place where financial literacy meets the messy reality of building something from scratch.
What We Actually Believe
Honest Numbers Beat Hype
You've seen the headlines about overnight successes and unicorn valuations. We teach the unglamorous math that keeps businesses alive. Cash flow projections. Burn rate calculations. Understanding when growth is actually killing you.
Context Changes Everything
A financing strategy that works for a SaaS company might destroy a hardware startup. We don't preach universal solutions because they don't exist. Our programs adapt to your sector, stage, and specific constraints.
Learn By Doing, Not Watching
Reading about financial modeling doesn't make you good at it. Our courses involve building real projections, analyzing actual case studies, and making decisions with incomplete information because that's how it works in practice.
The People Behind the Programs
Freya Pemberton
Lead Instructor, Funding Strategies
Former venture analyst who got tired of saying no to founders for fixable reasons. Now teaches the financial foundations that investors actually care about.
Callum Thorne
Director, Bootstrapping Programs
Built two companies to profitability without external funding. Believes most startups should wait longer before raising capital than they think.
How We Build Each Program
Research Real Challenges
We interview founders at different stages about what actually confused them. Not what they think they should have known, but what genuinely stumped them when they needed answers.
Strip Out the Fluff
Financial education loves to complicate simple concepts. We do the opposite. If something can be explained clearly in twenty minutes instead of two hours, we take the shorter path.
Test With Real Founders
Before launching any course, we run it past working founders who'll tell us when something doesn't make sense. Their feedback shapes the final version more than our assumptions ever could.
Update Based on Reality
Markets shift. Regulations change. What worked in 2023 might be terrible advice in 2025. We update content quarterly based on current conditions and participant feedback.
Our Next Cohort Starts September 2025
We run small groups because financial literacy isn't something you absorb from watching videos. If you're planning to launch or scale a startup this year, let's talk about whether our approach fits your needs.
